Christopher Schroeder is the Minister of Music and organist at Grace United Methodist Church in Baltimore as well as the Chapel Organist at St. Paul School for Boys. Mr. Schroeder has been involved in church music for 35 years. His first church music experience was at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rushville, IN, where his mother, Mary Jane Lawhead was the organist. Before graduating from high school, he studied organ privately at Earlham College and attended Interlochen Music Summer Camp, while playing the organ at several Protestant churches. He studied organ at Westminster Choir College before returning to Indiana University to complete a B.S.W. in Social Work. In 2008 Mr. Schroeder received a master’s degree in organ performance and church music from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, under the guidance of Dr. Marilyn Keiser and Dr. William Gray. Other musical passions and expertise include choral singing and making organ music and congregational singing more meaningful to congregations.
