In the 2022-23 season, Christopher Longo will sing Gherarado in Gianni Schicchi and a member of the Jury in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Trial by Jury with Salt Marsh Opera. In October, he debuted the role of Ferrando in the cover run of Mozart’s Così fan tutte at St. Petersburg Opera. Most recently, Christopher performed the Prince in Opera Steamboat’s cover concert of Rusalka with orchestra. In the 2018-19 season, Longo originated the role of the Fisherman in Opera Tampa’s world-premiere of Anton Coppola’s Lady Swanwhite.
Christopher trained as a classical violinist, and pursued a violin performance degree until he was encouraged by his then-voice teacher to switch to the voice program. He holds a Master of Music degree in Voice from the Eastman School of Music, and a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida State University. He and his wife, soprano Lauren Frey, live in Pittsburgh with their dog, Winston, and baby daughter, Sofia.
