STUDENT MUSICIAN EXCHANGE

Bach in Baltimore has created one of the most extensive music education programs in Maryland. The design of the program is two-fold: provide students with an opportunity to expand their musical literature and language knowledge by working directly with Maestro Dimmock and give students the chance to sing for an appreciative audience—both alongside the Bach Choir and Orchestra and alone.

The immersive experience begins with Maestro Dimmock visiting a school to prepare for the upcoming performance. He works with the students in a workshop setting to prepare them for their performance. On the day of the performance, Maestro Dimmock offers the audience, including assembled student choir members a rare insight into Bach’s highly personal and nuanced musical language with an impactful presentation about the program of selected works. Then, the Student Musician Exchange choir is invited to join with the Bach in Baltimore Choir and Orchestra in the performance of a Bach Cantata, major work, or set of their own choosing.
