KCatherine Needleman, Oboe is a multi-faceted musician and native of Baltimore. She performs as an oboe recitalist and in orchestras throughout the U.S. Since 2003, she has been the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s principal oboist. She won first prize in the International Double Reed Society’s Gillet-Fox Oboe Competition the in 2003, as well as their Inaugural Commissioning Competition in 2020. Passionately devoted to the delivery of new music and exploration of the lines between composers and performers, Ms. Needleman has commissioned and premiered numerous works. She released the album “Marmalade Balloon” with distinguished colleagues of the Mico Nonet; co-founded and curates “Coffee, Patisserie, and Classical Music” at An Die Musik; and is currently on the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music.
