From its iconic four-note opening to its triumphant finale, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 is one of history’s most powerful and recognizable masterpieces, tracing a dramatic journey from struggle to victory. Opening the program, acclaimed cellist Gita Ladd performs Haydn’s elegant Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major, a work of lyrical beauty and sparkling virtuosity.
