Bach in Baltimore’s opening concert invites audiences into the rich world of the Baroque masters. It features Handel’s inventive Concerti Grossi, Opus 6, No. 1 and the virtuosic Organ Concerto, Op. 4, No. 1. Also included are Vivaldi’s Concerto for Strings in G major, commonly called Concerto allá Rustica, one of his most well-known concertos, and Telemann’s Violin Concerto is G minor. Acclaimed bass-baritone, Phillip Collister, will be performing some of Bach’s most beloved arias including “Mache dich ein Herz rein” from St. Matthew Passion. It is considered by many to be the most beautiful aria for bass ever written. These masterpieces of the Baroque era launch our remarkable 39th season.
