Baritone Robin McGinness makes music unamplified. Through the direct connection of breath to vibration to eardrum, she lets audiences into interior lives they wouldn’t otherwise experience.
Praised by The Washington Post for a “powerful” and “warm” voice, and by The Baltimore Sun for “impressive singing… well-supported tone and supple phrasing,” Robin’s credits include Washington National Opera, IN Series, and Arizona Opera; leading roles include Eugene Onegin, Don Giovanni, and Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro. She appeared at Kennedy Center Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall, and as soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra. Experienced in new and experimental opera, she performed in the premiere of Grounded at Washington National Opera and originated Ed Wall in Frances Pollock’s award-winning Stinney: An American Execution at the PROTOTYPE Festival. She holds degrees from Oberlin and Peabody, where she teaches grant writing and career skills.
